The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/17/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Cenex on State Ave in Kansas City was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- The unisex bathroom hand sink was not producing hot water (the max temp it reached was 47’F). The person in charge said that the sink has a leak even when turned off; the leak is the coming from the hot water, so the hot water was turned off. Once the hot water was turned on, the faucet produced 100’F.
- Four fresh rodent droppings under the hand washing sink in the main room. Person in charge was unable to produce a pest control treatment report.
- A can of Raid Ant and Roach spray, residential use only, (EPA Reg No 4822-596, EPA Est No 4822-WI-1) was stored on a shelf over the dish washing area. Corrected on site: Educated, removed from use.
