Kansas Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) food safety and lodging program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/18/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Taco Tico was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- In the walk in cooler there was a container of pico de gallo dated 8/11, held for more than seven days. Corrected on site; voluntarily discarded.
- On the shelf over the three compartment sink there were two metal pans, one ladle, and one plastic spatula stored as clean which were soiled with dried food debris. COS–items were moved to three compartment sink.
- There was no hand soap available in the kitchen hand washing sink. Corrected on site (COS)–soap placed at hand sink.
- Around the soda syrup bag in box rack there were more than 25 small flies. Establishment is serviced by a licensed pest control operator. Person in charge said the last treatment was on June 15th, but no report from the PCO was available.
