The Kansas of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/3/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Village Inn Pancake House Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Dish washer coughed into his hands and rinsed his hands under running water in the dump sink and then began handling clean dishes. Corrected on site: Educated, rewashed dishes and hands.
  • Dish washer did not wash his hands between handling dirty dishes and clean dishes. Corrected on site: Educated, hands were washed and dishes were washed.
  • Dish washer, when instructed to wash his hands by the Person in charge, went to wash his hands in the dump sink. Corrected on site: Educated on approved hand sink for hand washing.
  • [Repeated violation] Sour cream was held on an ice bath at 51’F in the waitstaff area. The sour cream had been out since the morning, more than four hours. Corrected on site: Educated, voluntary disposal of the food. Inspector discussed ways of keeping sour cream cold while holding on an ice bath; keeping the sour cream in a metal pan and making sure the pan is all the way into the ice will help keep proper temperature.
  • [repeat violation] Forty dishes were put away as clean in the clean dish area with visible food debris and sticker residues on the food contact surfaces. Corrected on site: Educated, moved to be rewashed.
