MKC Nutrition in Lenexa fouls state food safety inspection; “Soiled diaper sitting on chair in room where hands are washed and food is stored”

Kansas Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) food safety and lodging program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/13/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the MKC Nutrition in Lenexa was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Child, under 5 years old in kitchen area where food is prepped. Soiled diaper sitting on chair in room where hands are washed and food is stored.
  • No test strips in establishment for quaternary or chlorine. PIC stated dishes are only washed with soap.
  • PIC stated she just washes dishes with dawn dish detergent. There is no bleach or quaternary to sanitize dishes. She was unaware of the sanitizing requirement for dishes.
  • Handsink in small room used for storage purposes. Sink completely filled with items, faucet pushed to the side. Sink inaccessible and unable to be used. COS removed items.
