Kansas Department of Agriculture’s food safety and lodging program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/17/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Jetmore Food Center was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- An employee reported to the deli kitchen, moved the trash can with her bare hand, donned gloves, then starting placing ready to eat toppings on a customer pizza. The employee did not wash her hands before donning gloves and preparing food. (COS-educated and hands washed).
- There were three packages of whole cherry tomatoes stored in the produce cooler with mold growth. There were two packages of whole strawberries stored in the produce cooler with mold growth. (COS-removed from retail sale).
- There was a sliced package of ready to eat roast beef with an open date of 3/5, a package of ready to eat sliced ham with an open date of 3/7, and a package of ready to eat sliced turkey with an open date of 3/7 all stored in the meat walk in cooler over seven days. (COS-removed for personal use).
- The only available food thermometer was scaled from 50 F to 500 F. There was not a thermometer available to measure food temperatures below 50 F. This was not corrected on site.
- No paper towels or other hand drying provisions at the meat room hand washing sink. (COS-paper towels were supplied). No paper towels or other hand drying provisions at the produce prep hand washing sink.
- There was an unlabeled spray bottle of blue solution stored on the counter north of the employee restroom. The solution in the bottle was Windex, as per employee. (COS-removed from service).
