Kansas Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) food safety and lodging program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 9/2/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations hang Asian Market was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- In the upright reach in cooler, there was a bundle of fresh ginger with mold present and on a package shallot’s with mold present. Employee pulled off shelf then stored produce in back storage room. Not corrected on site.
- On the retail floor, freezer #5 has red tilapia and original tilapia with no labeling information, In freezer #4 there was whole Apple snail with no labeling information, In freezer #3 Milk fish has no labeling information, freezer #7 there was a bag of snails with no labeling information and in freezer #1 there were Tilapia fillets with no labeling information. - On the retail sales floor, there were 3 non-food grade containers containing uncooked rice. Not corrected on site
- On the retail sales floor, there was an in-use utensil stored in the customer self serve rice bin. There is no ware washing sink to wash, rinse, or sanitizer the utensil. Owner stated he just washes the cup in the handwashing sink in the storage room. Not corrected on site
- No paper towels or other hand drying provisions at the back storage room handwashing sink. Not corrected on site
- On the north end of the retail floor, there was a bag of shallot’s with approximately 6-8 live fruit flies present on the product. Employee pulled from retail shelf and stored in back storage room. Not corrected on site.
- On the shelf next to the register, there was a bottle of hand sanitizer stored above numerous boxes of Strawberry cream covered biscuit sticks. On the shelving by the front door, there was approximately 20 bottles stored above a case of canned soy milk, a case of canned coconut juice and a case of bottled swallow nest beverage.
