Hitching Post Restaurant and Cafe

The Kansas of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 2, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the itching Post Restaurant and Cafe was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Located at the bar was a bottle of liquor with a pour spout. When Bottle was agitated there was a fly of some type floating in the liquor.PIC corrected on site. She disposed of the liquor.
  • Located on the north flat grill were shredded potatoes that were cooked at approx. 8:30AM. The potatoes were placed on the north flat grill for hot holding. The grill was heated only by the pilot light. At 8:59AM the potatoes had a temp of 84F. PIC corrected on site. She reheated potatoes to 175F by 9:30AM. Potatoes are now being held on the south grill that is in use.
  • Located in the kitchen at the Pepsi reach in cooler was an opened cream cheese cake with an opening date of 12/20/19. Cake was held past the disposal date of 12/26/19. Corrected on site by disposal. Located in the refrigerated make table was a food storage bag of fully cooked cut ham with an open date of 12/23/19. Ham was held past the disposal date which was marked with 12/31/19. Which is incorrect. It should have been 12/29/19/
