Kansas Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) food safety and lodging program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/5/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Papa John’s Pizza in Pittsburg was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- The following PHF items had been held greater than 7 days: Italian Sausage 2-25 Sausage 2-24 Italian Sausage #2 2-24 Beef 2-24 COS- The PIC discarded the items.
- Running water is not available at the kitchen hand sink. Repair of this sink is required.
- Hot water is not available at the kitchen hand sink. Repair of this sink is required.
- Bulk dispensing containers of Sanitizer and Dish Soap are being stored on the drain board of the 3-vat sink. These items need to be moved to a location where contamination can not occur.
- The seasoned pizza sauce, as outlined in the facility’s variance approval letter, was not marked with the time it was prepared. COS- The PIC marked the container with the time prepared.
