The Kansas of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 6, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Iola Middle School was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Kansas food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 2 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Bacon bits stored in and in direct contact with a non food grade plastic container (removed). The container also has a sticker on the outside surface.
- One live roach on a sticky trap behind the reach in freezer in the kitchen. One full roach egg sac is on the floor a few inches from the sticky trap. As per manager, they have a hired pest control service that sprays. No pest control methods were observed. No invoice was available for review.
